Chef DevOps tools Terminology

While Getting  started with Chef automation tools there are many more things to  discuss as keyword
those keywords are really important :

Here we are first discuss about Resources

1.  Resources  :

             
These  are the entity which are being used during work what you want to deploy for your servers

like :

User , Networking , File  , Directory , power/bash shell,  mount and many more


2. Roles

Roles are used to identify type of server like
web
database
Load balancer
Cache 
Monitoring

inside your infrastructure

3. Nodes

Nodes  are the server where we apply the changes

4.  Recipe 

Are  the configuration files that describe Resources with their desired state

Recipe Can perform :

i)   Install software
ii)  manage files
iii)  execute another recipe
iv)  Deploy another application

5. CookBook

This is container  where  REcipe , file , templates and many resources

6.  Run List

The policy which need to follow by chef client is known as chef

Here policy mean what are steps for performing task

like :

Install apache  then restart  service   not vice versa

or

what  recipe ,resources and roles we need to run



7.   Search

this is one of the killer feature of  chef for searching  stored data like cookboos , recipe , run list and many more
