Deep Dive with AWS S3

S3   :  Simple storage  service  is a cloud based storage for providing object storage


Let's  Start with S3 Basic Stuff.

1.   S3 allow only object based storage 
2.   File size can vary From 0 byte to 5TB.
3.   No limit of storage
4.   S3 bucket Universal name space that must have unique name 
5.   At successfull upload you will receive 200 HTTP response code
6.   Bucket Link will be like this  https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/ashutoshh
7.   Tired storage available 
8.   Lifecycle Management 

Data Consistency Model  : 

•  Read after Write consistency for PUTS of new object
•  Eventual consistency for override PUTS and DELETES  (will take time to propagate) that means you will find either new data after update of old data because of time taking process .

Storage technique :

1.   Its a key value pair model 
2.   Key is the name of object .
3.   Value  is  (data and that is made up of a sequence of bytes).
4.   Version ID (Important  for versioning)
5.   MetaData  (data about the data we are storing)

Storage  Tiers and Class : 

1.   It is design to sustain the loss of 2 facilities concurrently 
2.   S3-IA  (Infrequently-Access)  for data that is accessed less frequently , but requires rapid   access when needed 
3.   Turn on transfer acceleration always for good network speed by using amazon edge locations 

Versions in S3: 

•  To maintain all the data per save or per changes 
•   Once enable can not be disable only suspended 
•   Escape path from accidental delete

Encryption  :

1.  In Transit

2.  AT REST 
   .  Server Side Encryption
           .  S3  Managed Keys  SSE-S3
           .  AWS Key Management  Service , Managed Key - SSE-KMS
           .  Server Side ENcryption with Customer Provided key - SSE-C
